Seek Nourishment
How are you tending to your needs? What can you give back to yourself?
This card comes up when we are too busy taking care of everyone else and need to slow down, tune in, and tend to our own needs.
The Black Bear asks you to consider what nourishes you and how you can make more time for these things in your life. You are your own divine charge, and it is your sacred responsibility to nourish and tend that vessel. Whether it be a long bath and a quiet night in, or dancing until you can't see straight, this card invites you to seek nourishment in whatever form that takes for you.
-
Protect from Negativity
Yarrow has been used throughout centuries and across cultures as an herb of magical protection.
The Common Yarrow card arives when you are in need of protection from those with ill-intent. This can look like carrying talismans when you are out in public, practicing spiritual cleansing rituals when you come home, or re-enchanting the protective wards around your space.
However, this card may also come up when it is your own negative thought spirals you need protection from. Are old fears or limiting beliefs taking over your mind? What pyschic protections can you put in place to give your mind a bit of a respite?
Whatever form it takes, negative energy abounds at this time, and you're being invited to protect yourself from these forces.
-
Take the Lead
You are more capable than you realize. What you want is yours for the taking, but you must be willing to actually take it.
The Coyote card asks you to step up and take charge, whether it be over your own life or in a situation involving other people.
This card can come up when we need to take the reins in our own lives, inviting us to be honest about our desires and pursue them without shame.
It may also come up when we are in a situation where we need to step up and lead. Perhaps there's a conflict at work, or a murky situationship you're navigating. The only way out of this period of confusion is for someone to stand up and take charge, and the invitation here is for you to be that person.
Lastly, this card may symbolize a larger shift in your life of stepping away from a time of being quiet or in the background and claiming your power. Let yourself be large and in charge.
-
Heal with Tenderness
A deeply compassionate plant, the manzanita invites us to face our grief with tenderness and grace.
Pain and loss are very real parts of the human experience, and as much as we would like to, we cannot ignore this truth.
The Greenleaf Manzanita card honors the struggle of moving through this pain while inviting us to heal even when it hurts. How can you tend to your open wounds? How can you make space for your grief? What do you need to take care of yourself during this difficult time?
Allow yourself to pursue healing with a gentle heart and a deep compassion for all the pain that's come before.
-
Take it Slow
The Jeffrey Pine is the antithesis to urgency, and when it comes up in a reading, it invites you to slow way down.
Where are you rushing for the sake of rushing? What would it feel like to let go of a commitment, take a day off, or just sleep in for an extra hour?
Nothing is as dire as it seems. There will always be tomorrow. And even if there isn't, is it really worth wasting your todays by moving to fast to even experience them?
When we are stuck in the hustle culture of our modern society, it is easy to believe this slowing down is akin to death, but the Jeffrey Pine reminds us that it is only when we slow down that the true growing can happen.
-
Be Prepared
The Lodgepole Chipmunk arrives as a messenger. We may be in a time of calm at the moment, but big things are coming down the road, and the Lodgepole Chimpunk card invites you to prepare for the changes that are coming.
This card can come both as an omen of good things to come or a warning of future troubles, but the message is the same either way: things are about to get busy, so use this time to get your stuff in order.
Clean house; balance your books; run that errand you keep putting off. Now is the time to take care of the mundane tasks so when whatever is coming arrives, you can meet it well rested, well fed, and ready for anything.
-
Create without Limits
The Lupine asks a simple, but profound question: what if the only thing holding you back is yourself?
When the Lupine card arrives, you're being invited to create with the carefree attitude of a child. Start digging a hole with the utter faith that you will make it to China, and see what happens along the way. You might not get to China, but you will end up somewhere spectacular.
When the Lupine card arrives, we need to get out of our own way. Your creative potential is activated and eager, so let it go wild. Follow your creative urges, trust your intuition, and lean into the magic that happens when we stop doubting ourselves.
-
Find Your Flock
There is a time to seek the wisdom found in solitude, and a time to gather and grow in community. When the Mountain Chickadee card arrives, it's your invitation to lean into the latter.
Whether if be blood relatives or found family, seek those who feel like home. It is there that you will find the rooting and support you need to spread your wings and see how far you can fly. The Mountain Chickadee reminds us that we are stronger together, and asks you to consider how leaning into your community might support you in your efforts.
When this card arrives in a reading about work, career, or creative projects, it's often a call to lean into collaboration and work with others to make something bigger than yourself.
-
Be Aware
When the Mule Deer arrives, it's a call to keep your eyes wide open. This may sound forboding, and at times it does come as a warning, but more often than not, this card encourges you to be oberservant, connect to all of your senses, and become aware of the signs and symbols all around you.
Notice the world around you. Become aware of the ways the Universe communicates with you. Take time to observe how intuition arrives in your body.
Spirit is trying to share important knowledge with you at this time, and the Mule Deer asks you to slow down and observe your surroundings so you don't miss the signs.
-
Get New Perspective
Sometimes, when we feel stuck, all we need is a new perspective. What situations in your life feel stagnant or immovable? Where do you feel like you're running into a brick wall? What conflicts or arguements are not finding resolution?
The Osprey asks you to look at these situations from a new perspective. Perhaps this means consulting a trusted friend for their opinion, looking at the situation through the other person's eyes, or seeking guidance from Spirit.
Whatever it means to you, getting a new perspective on the situation at hand will allow you to see a road forward you may have never known was there.
-
Take up Space
When the Quaking Aspen is drawn, the lesson is clear: stop acting small. As Rumi once wrote:
“Do not feel lonely, the entire universe is inside you.
Stop acting so small. You are the universe in ecstatic motion.
Set your life on fire. Seek those who fan your flames.”
This is the wisdom of the Quaking Apen. Grow freely, laugh loudly, and take up as much space as you can. You are so beautiful, and Spirit is dying for you to let yourself be seen.
-
Embrace Opportunity
The Rainbow Trout is the "go for it" card. When this card arrives in your reading, it's an invitation to embrace whatever opportunity comes your way with arms wide open.
Take risks. Try new things. Say yes and see what happens.
There is magic in the unknown, and the Rainbow Trout card invites you to dive head-first into the river of the unknown and see where the current takes you. You'll never know what you're capable of if you don't put yourself out there and try.
-
Move with Purpose
We speak often of the importance of visualization in manifestation, but equally important is intentional action. This is the medicine of the Red Tailed Hawk.
Take your next steps with purpose and your eyes locked on the destination. Get clear on where you're going and chart the course, then set off with purpose and determination.
When you know where you're trying to get, it's easier to take the right steps to get there. This is not to say there won't be hurdles along the way, but the clearer your vision on where you're trying to get, the easier it will be to make those necessary moves and find your path with ease.
-
Own Your Voice
What you have to say matters. So speak up.
The Stellar Jay arrives when we are being called to own our voice and speak our truth. What have you held your tongue about for too long? Where are you struggling to speak out or step up? How have you been silenced?
This is your invitation to open your mouth and say what needs to be said. You have a unique and powerful perspective, and you are doing the world a disservice by keeping it to yourself.
-
Build Sacred Space
Your home is your altar, so make it sacred. How do you want to feel when you come home after a long day? What energy do you want your home to evoke?
The Yellow-Bellied Marmot comes when you are being asked to tend to your space and build sacred space with intention. This can be in your home, your community space, or the place where you work. Wherever you spend your time, curate the energy with intention and make it something that resonates with the deepest part of your soul.
This card may also come up when you're being asked to build an altar for certain Spirits or Ancestors you work with, as they, too, would love a sacred space to land in your home.
